With all these places you can go to get a massage, you’re more than likely wondering: where should I go to get a massage in Ventura?

Massage Therapy Thousand Oaks

I'm sure you'd prefer to get a massage at a place nearby, in the Ventura area. You definitely want a massage therapist knowledgeable and qualified. Next think about… what kind of massage do you want? Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, trigger point, hot stone massage, shiatsu, sports massage, chair massage, or just a foot massage. Although acupressure and reflexology are not technically massage these modalities provide beneficial bodywork session. Knowing the answers to these questions as well as a couple other factors determine the difference between a so-so massage and the best massage.

But I might not be the best massage therapist for you. What did I just say? To find out why click here.

I’m in the same position that you’re in. I need to go and get a massage regularly. Do you want to know what I look for when making an appointment to get a massage? Two things.

Does the massage therapist know their ASIS from their PSIS?

I know you weren't expecting a pop quiz in anatomy. Most people on the street wouldn't understand what I'm refering to with that question, and that's ok. But your massage therapist should. Did you know the State of California doesn’t require massage therapists to pass a standardized test to make sure a massage therapist knows what they need to? I make sure the massage therapist I see have voluntarily passed a standardized test, either the MBLEx or NCBTMB. Please get a massage from someone qualified.

Second, check massage therapist's reputations

The Thousand Oaks Surgical center comments about massage therapists talents: "Note that massage, like other hands-on therapies, involves personal talents that go beyond specific training, certification, or licensure: Some people are simply gifted with their hands. Furthermore, what works for one person may not work for another. For these reasons, some trial and error is often necessary to find the best massage therapist for you."

Therefore I want to see how satisfied their massage clients are. Do they put their knowledge to use to consistently give the best massage? For example read this testimonial from my client:

My third and final point, the place you go to get your massage needs to be excellent.  The massage establishment needs a large parking lot. Who needs to get stressed over finding a parking spot on their way to  get a massage? It's also important for the massage establishment to foster a quiet atmosphere. The massage room you enter to get a massage needs to have comfortably dim lighting. The massage table needs to be coushined and have a warming pad. Who likes to get into freezing sheets? Not me.

So what’s the best massage? The best massage is the one that works for you. I’ll make it easy for you.

“As a client I must be very selective as to whom I will allow to work on me as I have several health issues which require a certain level of expertise in understanding anatomy and physiology as well as contraindications… [Jennifer] is by far one of the best massage therapists I have ever had work on me and she possesses a thorough understanding of complex issues. For example, the first massage I received by her my scapula was pointing in the wrong direction and she was able to locate the origin of the issue resulting in my scapula repositioning itself about a quarter of an inch to the correct position. Even my chiropractor has noticed my adjustments have improved in my mid back.” -Jamie L.
